Apex town, business, and community leaders gathered Thursday at Veridea to celebrate the “topping out” of Summit House, the first residential project in the 1,100-acre mixed use development.Â
The 291 apartments are expected to be complete in late 2027 and be home to the first Veridea residents. Will Noyes, vice president of development for RXR, focused on the firsts that Summit House represents: the “first tangible,” the “first neighborhood.”Â
It’s “an early expression of something much larger,” Noyes said to attendees under a tent eating barbecue.
Summit House will be steps away from both a park and the shops and restaurants of Veridea Crossing. Speakers from master planner and developer RXR shared a vision of residents working, receiving health care, getting an education, shopping, and getting dinner all in one place.Â

It’s possible. Veridea is planned to include the future NC Children’s hospital by the early 2030s, the Western Wake campus of Wake Tech in 2029, and a community with six acres of public parks and a future elementary school, as The Line previously reported.
Summit House will be home to residents in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The luxury apartments will also include indoor amenities like a large dining room, fitness center, co-working space, a pool, and outdoor gathering spaces.
Besides the apartment complex, developers expect Veridea to attract about 10,000 new residents once every phase of construction and development is completed with 8,000 total homes. That includes townhouses and single-family homes currently under construction by Lennar, visible from the fourth-story window of one of the Summit House buildings.
Beyond the residential projects, construction on the first industrial buildings is ongoing, as is the infrastructure needed to support the development’s growth. Josh Garofano, vice president of construction for RXR, highlighted the water, sewer, and road work. Improvements to NC-55 will be complete before Summit House opens, Garofano said at the event.
“Growth” might be the word of the day in Apex, Mayor Jacques Gilbert said at the event, but he praised the Veridea development as “opportunities.”
