📽️ The Cary Theater’s Summer Family Series, (Sundays): On Sundays at noon through mid-August, the theater shows retro movies on the big screen in Downtown Cary. The movies are generally rated G or PG:
- “Land Before Time” (August 2)
- “Mac and Me” (August 9)
- “Harry and the Hendersons” (August 16)
🚣♀️ Bands Bites Boats (August 7): The monthly Friday night series at Cary’s Bond Park Boathouse continues in May with live music, after-hours boat rentals, and food trucks. Enjoy it from Bond Lake or bring your own lawn chair, 6-8 p.m. August 7. Free to attend.
August’s band is Adam Pitts, food trucks are Not Just A Fry Guy and Craft Public House, and the beer vendor is Fortnight Brewing Company.
📽️ Downtown Cary Park Movie Night: “Pirates of the Caribbean (The Curse of the Black Pearl)” (August 7): A free showing of the PG-13-rated movie will be at the Great Lawn at the Downtown Cary Park. Lawn seating setup (BYO blankets and chairs) starts at 5 p.m. with pre-screening activities starting at 6 p.m. The movie will begin at sunset. Food trucks will be on site.
🎶 Morrisville Music in the Park (August 7): Enjoy live music from the band The Blenders at Morrisville’s Indian Creek Trailhead, 101 Town Hall Drive, on a Friday night. The event is 6:30-8:30 p.m. August 7, with Hot Chix Hotcakes & Chicken food truck.
🧘🏾♀️ Fit + Flow at Fenton (August 8): What do you get when you combine Triangle Yoga Festival and the Peak City Fitness Festival at Fenton in Cary? A fitness and wellness festival combining classes like yoga, Pilates, dance and group fitness along with sound baths and Reiki energy healing. The event is 8 a.m.-1 p.m. August 8, with tickets starting at $17.85.
🔥 S’Morrisville (August 10): Sometimes Monday nights call for s’mores. That’s definitely the case on August 10, when Morrisville celebrates “S’Morrisville.” From 5-7 p.m., join the festivities at Morrisville Community Park for free s’mores (vegan options available) and more free, family-friendly fun.
🥂 Girls Night Out at Home For Entertaining (August 12): The Downtown Cary shop opens its back patio for a ladies’ night out on one Wednesday each month, featuring free s’mores, wine for purchase, and pop-ups. From 6 to 8 p.m. on August 12, women’s clothing boutique Meetings to Martinis will be on site. If you register, you can play a game of mahjong with Cary Mahjong Club, too.
📽️ Downtown Cary Park Movie Night: “How to Train Your Dragon” (August 15): A free showing of the PG-rated kids movie will be at the Great Lawn at the Downtown Cary Park. Lawn seating setup (BYO blankets and chairs) starts at 5 p.m. with pre-screening activities starting at 6 p.m. The movie will begin at sunset. Food trucks will be on site.
🔍 Murder Mystery Dinner: Death By Disco (August 20): The Halle Cultural Center in Apex is hosting an interactive 1970s mystery, where attendees must figure out “whodunit.” Pizza, salads, and dessert included with $44.70 ticket. The event starts at 6 p.m.
🍽️ Downtown Holly Springs Restaurant Week (August 21-29): Prix Fixe menus, drink specials, and dessert features will be available at participating Downtown Holly Springs businesses.
☀️ Summer at the Springs (August 21): The town of Holly Springs’ week of events celebrating its 150th anniversary and downtown Holly Springs kicks off 6-9 p.m. August 21 at Holly Springs Cultural Center Lawn with live music, food trucks, local beer, and wine. BYO picnic blanket or chair.
🚂 All Aboard, Holly Springs! (August 22): The 150th celebration continues with a model train show, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at Holly Springs Cultural Center. You can also see historical photos of the train that once passed through downtown Holly Springs.
🎨 Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival (August 22-23): It’s the 50th annual arts festival event for the town of Cary, and this year’s event will include 250 juried artists from around the U.S., plus live entertainment over four stages, food and drink, and a new Lazy Lounge. For families, the Kid Collectors Market is back, where kids can purchase small-scale items at affordable prices by festival artists. The event is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 22 and 23, at Cary Town Hall campus and the surrounding streets and parking lots.
🌿 Crafternoon with Bear Hands and Bottle Theory (August 22): Two Downtown Apex businesses are collaborating with a hands-on crafting event to build mini terrariums, 3-5 p.m. August 22. Bottle Theory will have something to sip for purchase. All craft materials are included with the $32 ticket, and advance registration is required.
🎶 CaryLive with Delta Rae (August 22): The band Delta Rae is from Durham, and the six-member act has played on stages including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Lollapalooza. It’s part of Downtown Cary Park’s free concert series, 7:30-9:30 p.m. August 22 at the Great Lawn.
🎶 Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms (August 28): The two bands are combining musical forces for a tour that stops at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Tickets are still available for the show at 6 p.m. August 28.
🌽 150th Themed Farmers Market (August 29): A special edition of the farmers market, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at Holly Springs Cultural Center. It will include “unique history-related crafts and activities, antique farming equipment on display, and more.”
